KOYLI Memorial Unveiling Less Than 2 Weeks Away
With less than 2 weeks to the unveiling and dedication service for the KOYLI memorial work is well underway. Groundworks have been done and construction of the plinth has started as can be seen in the picture below. KOYLI Memorial Dedication Briefing Notes
The unveiling of the KOYLI Memorial will take place in Elmfield Park, Doncaster on Wednesday 1st August 2018, starting at 12 noon. This will probably be the final official KOYLI family event, every effort will be made to make it such. The memorial committee have released a brief notes document for the Memorial Dedication on 1 August 2018. The document is too big to reproduce on this webpage. KOYLI Memorial Ceremony Tickets
During the month of March the Memorial Appeal Committee commenced sending out tickets for the KOYLI Memorial Unveiling and Dedication at Elmfield Park and the Reception afterwards at Doncaster Racecourse. Whilst you do not need a ticket to attend the dedication service, without one you will not be allowed into the seating areas, but allowed to watch from outside our perimeter. KOYLI Memorial Update
Ladies, Gentlemen, Families, Friends, Members and Associates, Today 27th Jan, myself and Dave Wroe visited the foundry to view the completed statue, it exceeded our expectations. Images of 2 miniatures are also attached, one in silver plate and the other in resin, these have not yet been priced. The statue will not be this shiny when atop the plinth in its final position, our sculptor will prematurely age it to produce a suitable patina. Plans for the dedication ceremony are

Memorial Update From Percy Potts
Ladies and Gentlemen, in July 2016 I contacted the Norwegian Embassy in London with regard to a donation to our appeal. The connection between Norway and the KOYLI was through the Norwegian Campaign in 1941. The campaign was not a great success and we lost a large number of soldiers whose Graves are today tended by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. York Minster Memorial Service and Lunch 7 Oct 17
The Rifles, Light Infantry and KOYLI York Minster memorial service and lunch will take place on Saturday 7 Oct 17. The lunch this year will be held in the Banqueting Suite at York Racecourse. KOYLI Memorial Update
Gentlemen, here’s the latest update on Memorial progress. The photo shows the initial part of construction. The item seen in the photo is called an ‘Armature’ in sculpting speak! It’s actually an adjustable steel framework which gives the basic shape and positioning of the statue. Once the sculptor is happy with the positioning, the next step is to cover the whole thing with modelling foam before the next stage. I will keep all informed as we move along. Percy #Memorial
