I am delighted to share that the next Waterloo Uncovered Programme - Finds in the Community - is scheduled to commence in early February.  On this occasion, we will be partnering with The Green Howards Museum in Richmond (DL10 4QN) as we look to offer the opportunity to veterans and serving military personnel in the north east.

About Finds in the Community

The Finds Programme brings the archaeological objects excavated on the Waterloo Battlefield to veterans and serving military personnel in the Richmond community.  Over the course of six workshops at the Green Howards Museum, beneficiaries will learn key skills from leading archaeologists, whilst handling unique discoveries from the battlefield. They will also connect with local heritage, gaining knowledge of a range of techniques shown to improve wellbeing and build confidence to engage with heritage. Our programme is centred around the NHS five ways to wellbeing - connect, learn, be active, take notice and give back.  It also includes a local outreach day for veterans to showcase their work either to a local school or their family, friends and the general public.  The programme is scheduled to start on Thursday 5 February and we are onboarding beneficiaries over the next 2 weeks.

How can I refer a beneficiary?

We are therefore requesting Expressions of Interest from charity referral partners to improve beneficiary wellbeing.  Our innovative programme provide access to the archaeology and heritage of Waterloo, supports recovery and wellbeing, and in turn, enables beneficiaries to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to engage with heritage.   If you are able to identify veterans or serving military personnel who would benefit from this type of activity specifically to support their wellbeing please do get in touch with us.  If you would like to refer a potential beneficiary, please contact the Regimental Secretary or the Rifles Regional Secretary no later than 29th January.
