Mr Donald Lockwood - Late KOYLI

It is with great sadness that I have to inform members that Mr Donald Lockwood, late KOYLI, passed away on 3 Sep 2021 aged 85.


Donald enlisted into the KOYLI raising to the rank of Serjeant and saw service in Kenya and Cyprus. Don left the Army to pursue a professional rugby league career which was curtailed through injury.


Our thoughts and condolences are with Donald's family and his many friends at the sad time.


As the bugle sounds 'No More Parades' and you take your place in the FRV, rest in peace Donald. Cede Nullis.


The family have requested the services of a Bugler and Standard Bearers. The Association Secretary will organise.


Association members are invited to the funeral and the wake.

The funeral (Humanist Service) arrangements are:

  • Date and time: 08 Oct 21 at 11 am

  • Location: Common Road Club 22 Common Road Batley WF17 7QL followed by burial at 12 pm at Batley Cemetery 7 N Bank Rd, Batley

  • Funeral Director: George Brooke Ltd 14 Sharpe Street Dewsbury WF13 1QZ

  • Donations in lieu of flowers to: Family flowers only. Donations to Dementia UK welcome

Anyone wishing to send cards or letters of condolence is requested to send them to the Rifles Regional Office at Minden House marked FAO family of Don Lockwood. Office staff will then forward them to the family

Condolences to Donald's wife and family, sorry I will not be able to attend the funeral, as I will be in London for 3 days, anyway Donald your duties and Parades are finished
