Capt (Retd) Reginald 'Reg' Robinson late RAOC, LI, and KOYY(LI)

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the sudden passing of Captain (Retd) Reginald Robinson, who died in hospital on Wednesday 15 July 2020 aged 77 following an accident at his home.

For those who did not know Reg, as he was known to everyone, he enlisted into the Yorks and Lancs before transferring to the ROAC where he became a Superintendent Clerk. He became the Administrative Officer (NRPS) for 8LI in Wakefield; he assisted in the raising of 8LI, the disbandment of 8LI and the re-rolling to King’s Own Yorkshire Yeomanry (Light Infantry). After retiring he went on to assist in the Rifles Office Pontefract and served as the Treasurer to the Association Trustees of the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry until he retired due to health problems. Reg had recently taken up bugling following the death of his wife Pat 18 months ago and was an active member of the Minden House Buglers. Reg was hugely respected by the all who served with him and his sudden passing has come as a shock to all.

Our thoughts are now with his family and friends at this sad time. Rest in Peace - Cede Nullis.

The funeral is to be held at Ardsley Crematorium, Doncaster Road, Barnsley S71 5EH on 29 July 2020 at 1210 pm. Association members are invited to attend outside the crematorium.

Anyone wishing to send cards or letters of condolence please send them to the Rifles Regional Office marked ‘FAO Family of Reg Robinson’ and the office staff will forward them to the family.
