RLKA Newbie Buglers at Rifles Memorial Wall Castleford

Rifles, Light Infantry and KOYLI Association Standard Bearer and Veteran ‘Newbie’ Buglers remembering Rfn Jamie Backhouse 2 Rifles during a memorial ride by a veterans motorcycle club, The Crusaders, in Castleford, Jamie’s home town on Sunday 21 July 19.

Hundreds of people lined the route that started at the James Backhouse memorial wall at his old school in Castleford and took in other cemeteries in the 5 towns area including the War memorial in the Pontefract that has a plaque to the KOYLI. Our buglers and Standard Bearer were present at the memorial wall and at the War memorial.

The ride concluded at Castleford Ex Servicemens club where after a service of remembrance for Rfn James Backhouse 2 Rifles and Bdr Craig Hopson Royal Artillery a newly refurbished room in the club dedicated to them both was officially opened.
