There But Not There Tommys unveiled in Featherstone

Featherstone War Horse with Tommys

On 6 Mar 19 at the War Horse in Featherstone was the unveiling of the 'There But Not There' Tommy Silhouettes. The silhouettes were specifically made to Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of WWI.

Pontefract Branch members Gerry Delany, Derek Searby, Terry Metcalf and Major John Elms, OC Y Coy 8 RIFLES joined members of Featherstone Council, members of the public and local school children for the unveiling ceremony. Our Standard Bearers; Stephen Drew, Rob Smith, Tim Humphreys and Colin Cranswick carrying KOYLI, LI and Rifles Standards joined the line up of various Association Standards. Buglers from the LT Div and Rifles Veteran Buglers Association, Kev Fawcett and Pete Bate sounded Last Post and Rouse.

Sandra Pickin, WMDC Armed Forces Champion said in her speech " Thanks to all who attended today for making it special. We must not forget the sacrifices that previous generations made for us, and Remember those who gave their lives in service. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM".
