Association Members Support South Kirkby Gala on Salamanca Day

Re-enforcing the connection between the Association and South Kirkby was the objective of the day when members of the Association: Eddie Robinson; Tim Humphreys and Colin Cranswick, attended the town’s Gala Day on 22 Jul 17, the Regimental Day of the LI and RIFLES, with the Association gazebo. A massive thank you to Eddie, Tim and Colin for turning out to represent the Association

Despite the rain during the early hours the sun was on ‘parade’ during daytime activities which gave the opportunity to breakout our new solar panel to power the digital signage system. Sadly, for those who said on for the evening outdoor music festival the rain made a re-appearance leaving only 25 brave souls.

The KOYLI Standard, carried by Colin, took part in the Parade of Standards. Eddie Robinson recited the Exultation to the Fallen.

We would like to thank the people of South Kirkby for their warm welcome and their donations to our Memorial Appeal. Members of the public who visited our gazebo were: LI Cadets; 8LI; had friends serving with the RIFLES and in one case the wife and young daughter of a Cpl in 2RIFLES.
