Join us on Saturday, 30th August, from 12:00–3:00 PM, as we celebrate our shared freedom and humanity with people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures from across Doncaster.

This free event promises an afternoon of remembrance, creativity, and connection, but booking is essential

What to expect:

  • A short performance specially created for the event by Doncaster People’s Theatre

  • Live drumming from our Citizens of the World drumming group

  • A local singer performing live

  • Filmed poetry from Year 6 children at Town Field Primary School, Balby Central Primary School, and Lakeside Primary School created in partnership with the National Literacy Trust

  • Shared poetry created with b:friend and Changing Lives, inspired by the poem ‘Freedom Road by Simon Armitage’ commissioned to mark this historic anniversary

  • Scones, pots of tea, and a community feast — please bring a dish to share!

Let’s come together to reflect, connect, and celebrate 80 years of freedom, friendship, and community spirit.
