Unveiling Ceremony at Dewsbury Cemetery Memorial 21May 22

The Friends of Dewsbury Cemetery are holding an unveiling ceremony of 2 new memorial plaques to 14 servicemen from WWI and WWII, including 2 KOYLI soldiers Herbert Haigh and Spedding Hirst, who were not included on the original memorial, unveiled 4 years ago. Association members, Standard Bearers and Bugler supported the unveiling of the original memorial ceremony.

The Friends of Dewsbury Cemetery have again invited Association Standard Bearers, Bugler and members to attend the ceremony at Dewsbury Cemetery, Ravenshouse Road, Dewsbury, on Saturday 21 May 22. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant Kevin Sharpe and other civic dignitaries will present.

We have been asked to assemble at the cemetery at 1130 hrs ready for the ceremony to start at 1200 hrs. The ceremony should last about 45 mins. There are no refreshments afterwards.

Please come along to help remember the 2 KOYLI and 12 other servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Dress, if you have them, is Beret, Regimental blazer, Medals, Regimental tie. Otherwise smart dress fitting the occasion.
