Mrs Christine Slater - Late 8LI and KOYY(LI)

It is with great sadness that I have to inform members that Mrs Christine Slater, late 8LI and KOYY(LI) died on 02 February 2024 aged 71.

Christine joined 8LI in the late 1980s, she remained with the battalion until it was disbanded in the mid-1990s when the battalion became the King's Own Yorkshire Yeomanry (Light Infantry) (KOYY(LI)). Christine, a nurse by profession, was a Sergeant with the battalion medic staff. During the First Gulf War Christine, along with other battalion medics, volunteered to serve in Iraq as members of a field hospital. Christine was respected by the permanent staff and all ranks of the Battalion and Yeomanry Squadron as a reliable and effective medic.

Our thoughts and condolences at the sad time are with Christine's family and her many friends who served with her in the Territorial Army.

As the bugle sounds 'No More Parades' and you take your place in the FRV,

your duty done with honour and distinction.

Rest in Peace Christine.

Cede Nullis.
