Minden Day Celebrated in Doncaster at the KOYLI Memorial

The Association's annual wreath-laying ceremony was conducted by Rev. Andrew Martlew, with the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Major Adrian Hunt, KVRM, DL, in attendance. He was joined by the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet, Cadet Sergeant Bruce Matthew. Brigadier Mark Wilson MBE, serving as President of the Association, was present, along with Lt Col Neil Watson, Commanding Officer 8 Rifles, other civic dignitaries, former KOYLI and LI Officers, and Soldiers.
Adrian Waites from the Leeds branch led the Association Standard Bearers representing the Doncaster, Pontefract, and Leeds branches. The Minden House Buglers, under the direction of Bugle Major Kev Fawcett, performed calls during the service and later entertained guests during lunch at the Earl of Doncaster Hotel.
MINDEN DAY MESSAGES
Brig (Retd) Jim Parker sent the following Minden Day message and greetings from South Africa:
My joyous Minden Day greetings to all my fellow comrades and especially to those who make the effort to attend and uphold the KOYLI memory at Doncaster today. We will be toasting the Regiment and wearing our roses in the Natal sunshine.
