With profound sadness, I wish to inform all members of our community that Brigadier Roger Preston CBE, a distinguished and respected figure, passed away in York Hospital at 2.00 am this morning, 5 October 2025. His departure leaves a significant void in the hearts of those who knew and admired him, as well as in the broader community that benefited from his dedication and service.

At this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Polly, his beloved wife, and to all of Roger's family and friends who will be grappling with this immense loss. Roger was not only a remarkable leader but also a cherished friend to many. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his principles will be sorely missed. We encourage everyone to come together to support one another as we navigate through this period of mourning and remembrance.

As we reflect on Roger's life and legacy, we acknowledge the profound impact he had on countless individuals and the invaluable contributions to our Association he made throughout his career. His dedication to service and the Association will continue to inspire us all.

Further details regarding memorial services and tributes will be published in the coming days as more information becomes available. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time as we honour the memory of a truly remarkable individual.
