Bernard Joseph Vause Late 2KOYLI

It is my very sad duty to inform you all of the death of Bernard Vause, late 2KOYLI who sadly passed away on 3 Oct 2019 aged 96. Berand, a member of Pontefract, served in India, and Burma, Italy and Austria. Our thoughts and condolences are with Bernard's family and friends at this sad time. Rest in peace Bernard your duty done take your place in the FRV with your brother KOYLI's. Cede Nullis.
Bernard's family have asked for the following to be published as an obituary to him:
Bernard joined the army as a boy soldier aged just 14 to travel to the Far East where war soon broke out, serving in India and notably the famous retreat through Burma’s jungles where he swam the Sittang river in a February 1942. He later joined the West Yorkshire Regiment serving in Italy and Austria and as a reservist following the war. He continued to live near the old Pontefract Barracks throughout his retirement. One of, if not the last of his original KOYLI battalion he will be sadly missed by friends and family.

Date and Time: 24 Oct 19 at 1030 hrs Followed by cremation at Pontefract Crematorium
