From Tue to Thu last week the Association gazebo manned by the Association Secretary was in the military village at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate working alongside the Rifles RST North and recruiting team members of 8 Rifles. The joint working together demonstrated 4 of the Rifles 5 Pillars; Regulars, Reservists, Association and Community.
Visitors to our stand have included; one of our local SSAFA volunteers with whom the Regional and Association Secretaries have been working with in recent weeks, Richard Lenton from RFCA Yorkshire and Humber, association members Veronica Hanson and Val Henderson, families of serving Riflemen and former Riflemen.
There was also had a visit from a member of the RMP team working on the RMP stand in the military village who dropped in to buy some KOYLI items for his grandfather who it transpires is association member Larry King. It was only a few months ago that Larry spoke on the phone with the Association Secretary about his membership and how he can obtain news and details of Association to activities as he now lives in the North East. Coincidence or not it was great to meet Larry’s grandson Garry.
A massive thank you to the RRO, RRWO, NCOs and Riflemen of the RST North and the recruiters from 8 Rifles for the support and assistance you have given to the Association Secretary who tells us he has thoroughly enjoyed being out working the the team.
