Mayor of Wakefield Civic Parade 2017

Early today, 2 Sep 2017, the Mayor of Wakefield, Councillor Kevin Barker, held his civic parade and service in Wakefield Cathedral.

The Rifles LI and KOYLI Regimental Association was represented by; Col's Brian Denny and Robin Smith, Rifles Regional Secretary Bob Roberts, Stuart Anderson and colleague from the RGJ Association. They joined the Mayor of Wakefield, Lord Lieutenant, Mayor's from surrounding Metropolitan Districts, the Mayor's from the local five towns, which included the Deputy Mayor of Normanton Councillor Denton Jones a member of Pontefract Branch and other dignitaries.

The parade through Wakefield via Trinity Walk to the Cathedral for a service of dedication was led Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band and Standards from the Royal British Legion and The Light Infantry Association Standard carried by Colin Cranswick.

After the service the parade returned to the Town Hall for light refreshments.
