About The Event

Service

The service will be conducted by The Revd Andrew Martlew TD and will last approximately 30 minutes.  Wreath(s) will be laid and standard bearers and buglers have been requested to parade.

Seating

There is seating for up to 40 people in the Chapel.  There will be a few reserved seats for those with a part to play in the service.

Travel and Parking

With the likely numbers attending hiring a coach is not considered to be cost effective.  However parking fees up to £10.00 per car will be reimbursed on submitting a valid parking ticket (scan, photo, or paper) with bank details to the Association Secretary.   It is recommended that use is made of the Park and Ride facilities around York. Rawcliffe Park and Ride stops nearest the Minster (Museum St - 5 minute walk) while the others all stop at the central interchange in Rougier St, about 10 minutes walk from the Minster.  At the time of writing fares are £3.50pp with a concessionary fare of £1.20pp with a valid bus pass.  There are blue badge parking bays in car parks close to the Minster and if necessary blue badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours (displaying a time card as well as a blue badge) and if there are no loading restrictions – please check the York City Council website on this.

Dress

Serving personnel are asked to wear uniform.  Gentlemen should wear a suit or Regimental Blazer.  For ladies Day Dress is suitable, hats are not necessary.  Decorations and medals should be worn.  However the overriding factor is to dress appropriately for the season/weather!

Post Service

After the service, you may wish to make your own arrangements for refreshments or lunch with friends.
