About The Event

The RBL opening of the Field of Remembrance in the grounds of Westminster Abbey is held annually on the Thursday before Remembrance Sunday.  Current and former regiments have a regimental plot filled with Remembrance crosses, we will be representing the KOYLI.

The trip, which incorporates an overnight stay in London at the Victory Services Club, will follow the same format as in previous years.

Travel will be by rail using railcards (the Veterans Railcard is ideal) to reduce the cost of rail travel.  Association members who wish to book for this trip who do not have any type of Railcard are asked to please obtain a card before 30 Sep 21 as at the time of booking the rail tickets the number and types of railcard has to be stated.  Association members wishing to book for the trip who already have a Railcard are asked to ensure it is valid for travel on 10 and 11 Nov 21.

The group will depart Wakefield Westgate at approx. 1030 hrs on 10th Nov for London Kings Cross  arriving approx 1330 hrs.  Overnight accommodation is at the Victory Services Club on a BnB basis sharing in twin rooms.  After Breakfast on 11th the group will move by taxi to Westminster Abbey for the ceremony.  Afterwards the group will move back to Victory Services Club for lunch before moving to London Kings Cross to catch a late afternoon train to Wakefield Westgate with the aim of arriving at approx. 1930pm.

A grant from the trustees will be applied for to cover the cost of the rail travel.  Members on the trip will be responsible for the cost of their accommodation, food, drink and taxi fares.  The accommodation with breakfast is approx. £78 per person sharing a twin room or £156 for sole occupancy.
